FORGED LIQUOR LICENSE

Recently, a joint New York City Police Department and State Liquor Authority investigation culminated in the arrest of an individual for forging a New York State Liquor License that was being used by a Queens restaurant.

The forged license was discovered during a State Liquor Authority investigation.  SLA investigators discovered an altered copy of a license that had expired in September of 2012.

The arrest resulted in charges of Forgery in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument and Falsification of Business Records, all felonies.

This case is a glaring illustration of the consequences of altering a New York State Liquor License, and should sound an alarm for all license holders.

It is imperative that all lost or stolen licenses be reported immediately to the New York State Liquor Authority and the Police Department.

It also emphasizes the importance of seeking competent counsel for advice on license renewals, and all license applications.  It is the best way to insure that your liquor license is authentic, up to date and in accordance with all SLA regulations.
